Industrial Resolution was a
monumental visual arts installation commissioned by Manchester International Festival,
performed live by visual jockeys
to the sets of an exclusive DJ
line up.
Microchunk artists created and
performed custom-designed,
multi-media to the soundscape
of the world’s leading DJs,
including 2 Many DJs, Carl Cox,
Fatboy Slim, Laurent Garnier,
Layo, Pete Tong, Sasha, and
many more. The resulting set
was astonishing, intuitive, and
interacted with the various
perspectives of the attendees
around the venue

The content was created at a higher than ever resolution, using unprecedented technology to project moving images at 8 times the resolution of High Definition on to a screen measuring over 40m wide. The conceptual journey was a quest to look at issues in the context of the global community, to pose questions that affect our society and begin to look for answers using the VJ artform– a reclamation of the image which, in our present media climate, is the message.

The event will take place over two nights with different visual material and DJ line-ups, at the 10,000 capacity Manchester Central (formerly known as the G-MEX Centre) - one of the city’s most iconic industrial buildings, in the centre of Manchester, the place the world has long held as the beating heart of the UK club scene.

“Industrial Resolution was conceived to pay homage to Manchester’s cultural and musical history, but also to look to the future to see how we can embrace the digital world,” comments Festival Director Alex Poots. “This will be the ultimate club night for the original party city.”

"The Highlight of the evening for us was undoubtedly the visuals. The screen spanned the entire height of the former G Mex building. It was an unbelievable sight and the high definition streaming of cutting – edge graphics was at times jaw dropping. If the future of music events involves visuals of this calibre then we want the future to arrive right now!" Mark O'Donnell ManchesterAD.com
